Tim Underhill
is president of Underhill & Associates - a consulting
firm whose mission is to improve its clients' profitability
through increased sales, improved supplier/channel management
and reduced operating costs. Tim has worked with customers
to develop commodity/service plans, evaluate suppliers based
on total cost and implement supply chain initiatives. For
distributors and manufacturers, he has helped them to document
their value, develop account penetration/retention strategies,
and create unique selling propositions. Many of his clients
have been able to document total cost savings of at least
30% compared to the annual purchase/sales price involved.
Tim
currently sits on the ISM's (Institute for Supply Management,
formally the NAPM - National Association of Purchasing Management)
national steering committee for their MRO Buyers Group and
provides Supply Chain Management and Total Cost seminars
for many of their affiliates and members.
He has
also served on the value added tasks forces for PTDA (Power
Transmission Distributors Association), IDA (Industrial
Distribution Association) and ISMA (Industrial Supply Manufacturers'
Association) and many others.
Tim
has authored two books entitled: Strategic Alliances:
Managing the Supply Chain, and Team Up! Profit
Up! Partners in Channel Cost Reductions, developed
a Supply Chain Management program for measuring the Total
Cost of Ownership: SourcingStrat, and an account penetration/retention
program: SalesStrat, and has authored numerous articles.
Tim
also spent 5 years working for an industrial distributor
helping them sell and implement alliances and was a visiting
professor for 5 years in the Texas A&M Industrial
Distribution program.
